Join us in this rare half-day special camp packed with fun, exciting, hands-on activities with three very special guest teachers from Japan!
1. Noh "Samurai" Theater - The World's Oldest Surviving Theatrical Art
Munenori Takeda, a "Prince of Noh," from Japan will perform the short "Samurai" piece. Children will learn fascinating facts, sing lyrics, create paper swords and learn the Samurai movements with the swords.
2. Sougeiga Art - Innovative Modern Style Japanese Silk Collage
Yubi Yazaki will demonstrate how to make beautiful Sougeiga Art. Sogeiga is a form of silk fabric collage invented in Japan about 40 years ago. This art involves unique materials and processes. In this introductory class, children will experience the silk fabric and pasting techniques and will take home one unique piece of Sougeiga Art!
3. Ki-Aikido - Studying Mind and Body Unification
Introduction to Ki-Aikido with the special instructor Junko Makino. Ki-Aikido's teaching is
based on the basic principles which unify mind and body. In the class, children will
experience how Ki (mind, spirit, heart) and body correspond and will learn
Aikido movement. No previous experience necessary!
